Not to get all Edwin Starr over here, but good God, y’all. The Oldsmobile Rallye 350 is a car that’s truly forgotten. There’s barely any mention of it online, barring a couple of posts from enthusiast press and bloggers. That is a tragedy. Just look at it. As well as being fast, mean, and cheap, it was powerful; packing a 350 ci V8, producing 310 horsepower and 390 lb/ft of torque. It also had a pleasant plethora of options to choose from, with the option to plump for a four-speed manual gearbox to improve performance even further, and a pair of differential options to upgrade to.

So why wasn’t it the hit it should have been? Why isn’t it remembered in the same breath as other classic muscle cars? Well, there’s a couple of reasons. As well as being overshadowed by cars like the Chevy Chevelle and the Ford Mustang, its design choices went down bafflingly poorly with customers. Dealerships resorted to removing the painted bumper and replacing it with a chromed alternative to shift them, and people just didn’t buy them like they did their big-block competitors. Just 3500 of these were ever built, a sad fate for a car that offered something truly different.
